The 10 Commandments of Bunny Ownership
1. Don't bring home a bunny if you aren't willing to invest up to 12 years of your life caring for it.
2. If your rabbit is sick or injured, take it to the vet. Don't make it suffer.
3. Always provide plenty of good quality timothy hay and pellets as well as the occasional fruit/veggie. Also ensure the bunny has a constant supply of fresh water.
4. Provide plenty of mental stimulation in the form of toys and puzzles.
5. Don't let the cage get too dirty.
6. Don't stick the rabbit in a cage and forget about it.
7. Understand if the bunny is grumpy, it could be due to several things: how it has been handled, if it's bored, if it's sick, if it needs to be spayed/neutered, etc.
8. Bunnies are individual creatures with individual personalities. Don't try to make a bunny conform to what your idea of a bunny should be. It will go about as well as if you tried to do that to a cat.
9. Provide a friend for your rabbit if possible. They are much happier with another bunny (or even a cat since they have the same personality quirks and body language).
10. When it's time for your friend to cross the rainbow bridge, don't hold on out of selfishness. Let him/her go.
